Â鶹´«Ã½ University Concert Choir to Present ‘Messiah’ Dec. 2
Nov 27, 2014
Kick off the holidays with a live performance of George Frideric Handel’s “Messiah” performed by the Â鶹´«Ã½ University Concert Choir and members of Orangeburg area church choirs at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Stevenson Auditorium.
This special holiday presentation of “Messiah” is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for admission. The free tickets are available at Â鶹´«Ã½ University in the Cashiers Office in Tingley Memorial Hall, as well as at Orangeburg City Hall and the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce.
“Messiah,” under the direction of Â鶹´«Ã½’s Dr. Isaiah McGee, was written more than 250 years ago, and is one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music. It serves as an extended reflection on Jesus Christ as Messiah – journeying through the prophecies of His birth, life, death, resurrection and glorification in heaven.
The event is being sponsored by Â鶹´«Ã½ University, the Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Association, the City of Orangeburg and Century 21 The Moore Group. Stevenson Auditorium is at 979 Middleton Street in downtown Orangeburg.
