With May quickly approaching, Amanda Perry prepares herself for life after Â鶹´«Ã½ University.

Perry, from Irmo, majors in digital design and is a part of many clubs/organizations around campus: the Art Club, The National Society of Leadership And Success and Miss Lambda Sigma of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.

“I was first attracted to Â鶹´«Ã½ University by the sense of community. People look out for each other on campus and strive to build each other up. From the faculty to the students, everyone is  welcoming,” Perry said.

Being a digital design major, Perry was able to become educated and trained to compete in the rapidly emerging art and creative design fields. Knowing everything developed around art, design, technology to articulate creativity, form and function.

“As a designer, I never know when inspiration will strike. Although I might feel inspired while working, it is normal while taking a break that I find myself inspired,” Perry said. “This is because during off times, my mind is free to process experiences and to come up with new ideas. As a result, I often feel inspired by walking, spending time with friends, going out to dinner or watching a movie.”

After undergrad, Perry plans on attending College of Design, a graduate program at N.C. State University, to take industrial design.

“Prosthetics and orthotics, what I want to do is design artificial limbs for children and people in the military,” Perry said.

In the future, Perry hopes to become a certified orthotics and prosthetics practitioner and get her doctorate degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
